EMERGENCY IN PAKISTAN: HUMANITARIAN FLIGHT ON BEHALF OF THE ITALIAN MOFA

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested HRD Brindisi to organize and perform a humanitarian flight in support of Pakistani population.  On board of a AN124 a cargo composed of water supplies, medical supplies, tents, for a total weight of 44.9 Metric Tons. Severe weather conditions with strong wind gusts of 42 Knot  caused a delay in departure. Indeed, the flight left Brindisi today afternoon.
The humanitarian cargo will be taken in charge by the  Italian Embassy in Islamabad.

PAKISTAN EMERGENCY: humanitarian flight from HRD Dubai

DFID has kindly allocated a C17 free of cost air freight to humanitarian agencies through UNHRD Dubai. Within a short time Dubai hub has managed to contact the users to benefit from this airfreight to Pakistan, in order to deliver a total of 30.034 metric tons of humanitarian items. The joint flight was operated on behalf of Islamic Relief, Qatar Charity, WHO and WFP, with a cargo composed of family tents, corned mutton, IEHK, High energy biscuits and IT equipment. The loading operations took place on friday 13.08.2010 and flight departed on 14/08/2010. It was confirmed that the flight safely landed in Pakistan.
The hub is also working closely with RASO on the Qatari C 17 air force for dispatch of Humanitarian cargo to Pakistan.

Emergency operations to Pakistan requested by Mercy Corps and WFP

In response to the Pakistan emergency, MERCY CORPS requested UNHRD Dubai to despatch via air water station unit with accessories to provide save drinking water to people recently affected by the floods. WFP Pakistan country office requested UNHRD Dubai to organize a sea shipment of 25 prefab mobile storage units, in order to replace storage facilities which were washed out by the flooding. Both the cargoes have left Dubai to final destination.
