The President of ECOWAS “Economic Community of the West Africa States” composed by 15 different countries located in the Region, and WFP Mali Country Director, signed a Technical Agreement in the framework of UNHRD Cooperation. Such agreement includes also a technical support of ODL through HRD Network for building a Humanitarian Depot in Bamako.
The agreements has been signed in Bamako Friday 5th of February, with the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mali
HRD Accra has performed one flight to Haiti on behalf of UNDP, for a total weight of 66,49 Metric Tons. Cargo composed of ablution units, living and accommodation units and ancillaries for a total value of USD 702,144. Another flight has been performed on behalf of Irish Aid, for a total weight of 50.132. Cargo composed of water tanks, tents, tarpaulins, blankets, jerry cans, for a total value of USD 292,898
In addition, a flight on behalf of WFP left HRD Accra with cargo composed of prefabricated warehouse to Liberia, on board of DPKO flight.
HRD Brindisi had performed a shipment via road from Brindisi to Milan , on behalf of InterSOS. Cargo composed of tents, water tanks, squatting plates and generators, for a total weight of 8.54 MTs. On 4th of February 4 trucks left Brindisi to Germany loaded with WVI Cargo composed of kitchen sets, jerry cans, tarpaulins, for a total weight of 80.404 MTs. A cargo composed of ablution units, living and accommodation units and ancillaries, generators, electrical kits, tents, for a total weight of 74.97 MTs and addressed to UNDP, WFP and PHAO, has left Brindisi on board of a B747.
HRD Cambodia has shipped two 20′ containers to WFP Sri Lanka with 1000 steel stackable pallets, PVC pallet mats, rollable. Also a 40″High Cube container will leave to WFP Indonesia loaded with prefab. warehouse, office accommodation units and ancillaries kits, tool kits, tents , and individual emergency kits. Two lighting towers complete with generating sets have been received under WFP stock.
HRD Dubai has received the four 40″ containers shipped from Brindisi loaded with prefabricated units and four 40′ containers loaded with prefab. warehouse as replenishment for WFP Stock. Also vehicles , trailers, spares and ICT equipment has received for WHO while HEB shipment is expected to be delivered early next week. .A total of four shipments to Haiti and one to Ethiopia has be performed on request of CARE, WVI, NCA, WFP and ECHO have left from Dubai loaded with water purification sachets, ablution and prefab. accommodation units with ancillaries, meals ready to eat, tents, kitchen sets and tarpaulins. ICT equipment is scheduled to leave early next week on commercial airlines. The relocation of WFP Dubai offices to Jebel Ali is confirmed, time frame is mid 2010. More details and exact shifting dates still to be advised.
