Weekly report 01 - 05 March 2010
HRD Accra has shipped out to WFP Liberia on board of UNMIL flight 47 bales containing empty polypropylene bags of 50KG capacity with a value of USD 9,870.00. A shipment was carried out on behalf of the Ghana CO who printed WFP logos on the sacks for WFP Liberia. Several relief items have been received on behalf of various Clients (medical supplies, water tanks, hygiene kits, tents, tarpaulins) with a total weight of 23.5 MTs
On 04 March it has departed from Brindisi a humanitarian flight organized by UNHRD on behalf of UNDP and WFP. On board of the Airbus310, a cargo composed of ancillaries for prefabs, 2 conference rooms and ancillaries, for a total weight of 17.92 MTs. The aircraft was expected to arrive in Port Au Prince on the same day. Several replenishments have been received on behalf of various clients (OCHA: kitchen sets with a total weight of 6.7MTs, WFP: ancillaries and modules with a total weight of 31.09MTs, WHO: medical kits with a total weight of 900Kgs). Staff member Pino Semeraro and Giuseppe Maci returned from duty mission in Haiti. A secondary school paid a visit to UNHRD Brindisi aimed to get acquainted with UNHRD activities. A tour of the premises was also carried out
HRD Dubai has received some hygiene kits with a total weight of 2.9 MTs on behalf of CARE and some plastic sheets plastic sheets with a total weight of 1.09 MTs for WHO. Staff member John Kisanara has been deployed to Port Au Prince, Haiti. Michigan State University recently had a fund-raiser for HAITI and donated the money to World Food Programme and visits Dubai’s premises.
Replenishment of WFP medical kits have been received in HRD Panama. The first support operation departed from Panama’s depot upon request of PHAO: the cargo composed of two 50KVA Generators has been airlifted to Santiago, Chile in response of the 8.8 magnitude earthquake. Ms. Silvia Uneddu, Logistics Officer, UNICEF New-York has visited HRD Panama while, following the last week meeting with Vice-president of Panama, Mirjana Kavelj, Head of UNHRD and Jaime Vallaure, WFP RDR had a meeting with Director of Political Affairs and Technical Team of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
