UNHRD Brindisi organized an airlift to Pakistan on behalf of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and Irish Aid
Irish Aid and he Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs of the United Nations requested UNHRD Brindisi to organize a humanitarian airlift in support of the Internally OCHA.gifDisplaced People (IDPs) in Pakistan. On board of an Airbus 310, UNHRD staff loaded blankets, kitchen sets and mosquito nets, which are part of the OCHA and IRISH AID stock in Brindisi, for a total weight of approx. 35 Mtons. The irish1.jpgAirbus departed from Brindisi today, at 23.00 UTC and it is expected to land in Islamabad tomorrow morning. The cargo will be then taken in charge by the UNHCR Representation in Pakistan. Irish Aid is one of the UNHRD Network major donor; indeed, they are contributing to the funding of the Network, in general, and of the HRD Ghana in particular. Thanks to Irish Aid, the UNHRD Network succeeded in establishing the first "green" warehouse.
