HURRICANE GUSTAV: EMERGENCY FLIGHT ORGANIZED FROM HRD PANAMA
PANAMA CITY - Hurricane Gustav slammed into Haiti Tuesday, lashing the desperately poor Caribbean nation with powerful winds and heavy rain, just days behind deadly Tropical Storm Fay, all causing serious damage, flooding and homeless. UNHRD Panama and the Spanish Cooperation Logistics Hub in Panama have coordinated consolidation of AECI/WFP cargo and airlifted today to Haiti in support of the humanitarian response to the hurricane Gustav emergency. The plane was chartered by the Spanish Cooperation and was free of charge for WFP.
